This policy explains what information tomviola.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website only.
Who runs this site

What is collected
If you sign up for email updates. The signup form collects your email address, and nothing else. It is processed and stored by Kit (kit.com), an email marketing service. Kit records the date you subscribed, which form you used, and whether you open or click the emails sent to you.
If you send a message through the contact form. Your name, email address, subject and message are emailed to Tom and also stored on this website. Stored submissions are deleted automatically 90 days after they are sent.
Automatically, when you visit. This site uses Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats. These record things like the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, which browser and device you use, and which site sent you here. They use cookies to do it. They are used to understand which content is worth writing more of. They are not used to identify you personally, and the data is not sold.
How it is used
Email addresses are used to send occasional updates about dental pharmacology — new articles, new videos, and drugs worth knowing about. Nothing more. Your email address is not sold, rented, or shared with other organizations for their own marketing.
Analytics data is used in aggregate to see what people read.
Messages sent through the contact form are used to reply to you, and nothing else. They are not added to the email list.
Who else sees it
Three service providers, each only for the purpose above:
- Kit — email delivery and list management
- Google Analytics — website traffic measurement
- Jetpack Stats (Automattic) — website traffic measurement
Information may also be disclosed if required by law.
Cookies and Do Not Track
Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats set cookies in your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
You can opt out of Google Analytics specifically by installing Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
This site does not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals, because no common standard for honoring them has been agreed.
Your choices
To stop receiving emails, click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email. It works immediately.
To see what is held about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email tom@tomviola.com. Requests are handled within 30 days.
Children
This site is intended for dental and healthcare professionals. It is not directed at children under 13, and information is not knowingly collected from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is handled, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Substantial changes will also be mentioned in an email to subscribers.
